How
to use it
|
Place
spermicide
before the lea into the vagina and place than the snugly over the
cervix.
Less spermicide is used only with condom.

Advantages
|
Safe.
Fertility
returns immediately upon discontinued use. Can be inserted several
hours before lovemaking. May be left in place 24-48 hours. No need to
apply more spermicide with each act of intercourse. Don't need
prescription. Must not be fitted by a health care professional. Only
one size.

Disadvantages
|
Must
be used each
time. Must be left in place 8 hours after intercourse. May become
dislodged. Some women may be allergic to spermicide, latex. Must be
replaced periodically. May have an increase in urinary tract infections
if used spermicide.
Cannot be used by women with a history of abnormal pap smears. Need
more frequent pap smears the first 1-2 years of use because it may
cause changes in the cells of the cervix
